A New School Year For The Kids, A New Beginning For You
We all need a fresh start from time to time. Don’t wait until New Years. Now is the perfect time to make a change and get results.

Every fall, when the kids head back to school, it’s a new beginning for them. They’ve got new clothes, new books, and new supplies—then they head out the door every day to learn brand new things and to grow. This year, I want you to feed off that energy of rejuvenation. Let their new beginning be your new fitness beginning. It can be tempting to put fitness on the back burner at this time of year. It’s easy to throw on a sweatshirt and enjoy some comfort food as the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter. But if you want to be proud of the way you look next summer, you need to put in the time starting right now. Taking some cues from the students starting their new school year, here are three simple things you can do to reinvigorate your fitness regimen.
1) Get some new gym clothes—ones that fit you well. There’s nothing narcissistic about wanting to look good when you hit the gym. If you like the way you look, you’ll feel more confident, and confidence becomes energy. You’re going to be excited about hitting the gym and give each rep that little bit of extra attention that it deserves.
2) Plan your weekly menu. Hit the grocery store and stock up on everything you need to eat healthy meals throughout the week. A kitchen full of healthy options is going to add another layer of motivation to your actions. When we spend both time and money on our health, we’re less likely to slack on our routine.
3) Tweak your program. You don’t have to start an entirely new training routine. By adding one major variable you can feel like you’ve revolutionized your program. For example, replace one of your regular days in the gym with another activity you’re not proficient with. It could be a spin class or yoga class, or an outdoor activity like mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, or kayaking. Your program doesn’t have to be all about one specific thing. Mix it up and you’ll keep things exciting. And if you’re excited about your program, you’re going to stick with it.
